What diets have you tried that were not successful?
For the sake of not being sued, I will not "label" the diets, but I'm sure you can infer what I have tried as I describe them. The first thing I can remember is resorting to diet pills in college. You know the kind that make your heart race and it is difficult to sleep at night? I had so much energy that I was working out twice a day! Who can say for sure what was causing me to lose the weight: the pills, the excessive working out, or both?! This obviously was not something I was going to be able to commit to long-term. The money it cost in pills was killing me as a poor college student, and who honestly has time to workout twice a day (shoot, I have enough trouble squeezing in once a day now!).
My parents' hearts were breaking when they saw how tormented I was by my increasing size. Kindly, they offered to pay for me to join the weight loss program that was all the rage at the time. They thought it was a healthy way to learn about food and lose weight (which I'm sure it was and still is) but it just wasn't for me. I was still in college, and counting calories, points, and being weighed in public was too big of a stretch for me. I stuck with it for maybe a month? Not very long, I know.
I then resorted back to exercising like CRAZY. I was no longer going twice a day but seven days a week. I lost some weight but I was not getting the results I wanted. I'm sure the healthy lifestyle in college, beer and late night pizza, was really helping contribute to my exercise regime and weight loss! Exercising continued to be a must throughout all of my diets and even now (just not as excessive) but I was looking for something more. That's when the doctor suggested liposuction. Ummmm what??!!! Find out more about my experience with liposuction tomorrow...
