3/8/10 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Monday

by katie 8. March 2010 21:55

I know it is a gross topic but constipation is real and extremely painful when not treated properly.  Make SURE you are getting enough fiber and fruits and vegetables.  You should be going to the bathroom at least once a day but if you're not try to incorporate more fiber into your diet.  I am taking a medicine right now that stops me up.  I thought going a teeny bit everyday was still enough; boy was I wrong!  Last night I never experienced pain like that before.  Just a reminder to all of you that if you suspect you're constipated try to tackle the situation before it becomes a serious issue.  I thought my husband was going to have to take me to the hospital last night.  Needless to say, I had to experience my first enema and I NEVER want to experience it again.  It was horribly painful and has left me feeling like the aftermath of the stomach flu - weak, dehydrated, and a sensitive stomach.  So, as embarrassing as this topic is, I thought it important to mention that being aware of your diet and how often you go to the bathroom can have astronomical effects on your health.
