We’ve talked about the dangers of tanning beds, but it bears discussing again. People of all ages and either sex go to tanning beds for a pick-me-up, especially when they can’t afford to travel to Florida or other sunny destinations. I find in my own experience, that more teenagers go to tanning beds than any other age group. Let’s be frank; tanning beds cause cancer http://www.cincinnati.md/articlepage_cn.aspx?cn-documentid=629473&query=tanning beds&s=1&cat=con .
Melanoma risk increases if you started using tanning beds before age 30. The good news is that there are other options. One is to embrace the beauty of pale skin (that’s really for me because my children and I burn easily and have pale skin). If that argument doesn’t fly, then try spray on tanning (at a salon or over the counter products), or self tanning creams (just remember to web your fingers and toes or you end up looking really odd. Plus, wash your hands with soap and water or you’ll look like an alien…yes, I’ve experienced both of those scenarios. You can have that healthy glow without putting your health at risk.
