Can I still have diet pop and coffee? Is it OK to have caffeine?
I am going to most likely contradict myself here: Do I drink diet pop and coffee? The answer is yes. While I rarely drink pop (maybe once or twice a week?), I drink coffee Monday - Friday. Do I think it is a good thing that my body wants coffee when I wake up? Absolutely not. But, during the work week I am usually overworked and exhausted. The caffeine gives me the jolt I feel like I need to start the day. BUT...diet pop contains aspartame which is HORRIBLE for the body. I have been reading Skinny Bitch and doing some research on the web; what I have found is that it becomes a poison in your body and since it is highly acidic your body creates extra fat cells to be able to store the extra acid. Bummer. I am not asking you to quit diet pop or coffee. I am merely asking you to think about it, just as I have recently been doing. If you are just starting to eat healthy my recommendation is not to rid yourself of everything at once. All through my weight loss I drank diet pop and coffee. If I had been required to do away with just about everything I love I am not sure I would have been so successful. I have to be realistic and choose what is possible for me. So, now that I already am in maintenance and have tackled other food issues I am going to try this whole caffeine thing. We will see how it goes. I know I can pretty much do away with diet pop; as for coffee I an do four days a week, but omitting it completely...not likely.
According to a health article on YourCity.Md, the" Average U.S. Child Consumes Too Many Calories." Look this article up to learn more about an epidemic plaguing our country - childhood obesity. A lot of bad eating habits begin in childhood. These habits become habitual and much more difficult to break in the adult years. Did you grow up in a household that promoted good or poor eating habits? How do you think this has affected you today?
