Have you ever been to IHOP and tried to order something healthy? That's like asking for a miracle to happen! My friend and I were out for brunch this morning and were appalled at what IHOP labeled "healthy." Just because a stack of pancakes is whole grain does not make it healthy! Remember, it's all about serving size and 3 large, and bulbous whole grain pancakes that adds up to approximately 530 calories is NOT healthy. Goodness, that's half your calorie intake for the day if your a woman with small stature trying to lose weight! All the meals they labeled "healthy" varied from about 300 - 500 calories! Now if I were not pregnant I seriously would have made up my own meal. Yes, they have turkey bacon but certain kinds are still extremely fatty. Not to mention, a serving size is still only a piece or two...not four. But, because I tutor on Thursdays I decided to make this brunch my breakfast and lunch - tutoring is right smack in the middle of lunchtime and I'm usually famished by the time we finish. So, today I chose the 300 and some calorie breakfast. It had 3 small pancakes, egg beaters, and turkey bacon. I opted to only eat two slices of turkey bacon (remember I need more iron) and then my egg beaters, and pancakes with sugar-free syrup (of course!).
