Late yesterday I found out the results of my gestational diabetes test: my levels were high but borderline; not enough to be doing insulin and follow a strict diet with a diabetes dietician! Whooo! Even though it's common amongst women, it's also common that many women will acquire regular diabetes later in life. I was so glad I don't have to deal with this for 9 more weeks! It's been a hell of a pregnancy and I'm just ready to meet my little bundle of joy and be done with all these crazy symptoms! What do high levels mean for me? It means continuing to try and eat a healthy diet filled with fruits and vegetables, eating little snacks all day to be aware of my hunger level, and keeping snacks in the car for when I am out running errands and get hit with hunger. Mostly it is being aware of when my body is telling me I'm hungry and making sure I respond with a healthy choice such as a few roasted almonds, low-fat string cheese, a fruit or vegetable, and drinking lots of water (done on the water part!) SATURDAY Breakfast - 1 egg, 2 slices whole wheat bread, tomato Plum 1 cup fat-free organic milk Lunch - 1 Gardenburger, 2 slices whole wheat bread, lettuce, tomato Fat-free yogurt Snack - Nectarine Dinner - Portobello Sandwich (no sauce) whole wheat bun, lettuce, cucumber, tomato Snack - Skinny Cow
