68% of the U.S. population are missing one or more teeth. If the missing tooth space isn't replaced with an implant or a fixed bridge, the teeth will shift causing further problems. The change in the bite can lead to fascial and neck muscle spasms causing severe constant pain know as temporal mandibular joint syndrome (TMJ). Clinical studies show that single implants replacing missing teeth have predictability of over 25 years. According the the American Dental Association, fixed bridges can last 9 years. The reason for the difference in years predictability is that bridges cover natural teeth which can decay where implants are titanium.
