Often people with crooked teeth ask about smile improvements but do not wish to undergo orthodontic(braces) to correct the problem. Do teeth need to be removed prior to smile makeovers or can it be done without removal? The most important part of any cosmetic dental improvement is to come up with a plan and then make the improvements on a set of plaster models of the patient's mouth. By trying out the new smile in plaster, the dentist can determine where teeth need to be or moved, if they are in the way. The dentist can also determine what the gums are going to look like and if too much of a tooth has to be trimmed to the point where a root canal may be needed. At that point, the final treatment is discussed with the patient and in some cases, be seen in the patients mouth before any work is done. Always plan your dental treatment ahead of time so that there are no surprises at the end.
