On a daily basis our office provides care to dozens of patients who suffer from back pain, neck pain, headaches or postural distortions, and on a daily basis we prescribe stretches and exercises, for rehabilitate of the spine, to these patients. The purpose of the "home work" is not to add one more thing to your busy day, but to aid in your healing. When the spine is out of alignment and the nerves are being smashed, the muscles that attach to the vertebrae and move your back are not functioning correctly. To restore function of the muscles you must strengthen and rehabilitate them.
You go to the doctor and he tells you that you have high cholesterol and you must take a drug, exercise and eat healthier to lower your cholesterol. You choose to take the drug, not modify your diet and continue to avoid the treadmill. When you return to the doctor for a follow up, do you think your cholesterol will be as low the doctor wants it to be? Or do you think if you had followed the doctor's recommendations you would have seen better results?
Hopefully your answer was "I should have followed the doctor's recommendations". The same holds true with Chiropractic care. If you follow your adjustment schedule, specially designed for you, and do the recommended rehab exercises the doctor will see the result he expects and you will feel the results you expect.
