12/14/14 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Friday

Jenny Craig recommends that you try to work out everyday for at least 30 minutes.  Well, I can be honest when I say that I do not do this.  I workout every other day for 40 minutes or more.  If I do not lose this week when I weigh in then I am willing to try this - even if it's just walking on the treadmill for 30 minutes per day.  I will have to experiment and see if this helps me lose more faster.  I admit, I am impatient, taking until almost the summer to lose this baby weight is extremely frustrating.  First, you spend almost a year gaining weight for your baby and feeling huge and then you spend 6 months to a year (if you have a "normal" metabolism) losing all the baby weight.  It doesn't seem fair that women have all the emotional hormone stuff, periods, and then weight gain, sickness, pain, etc. when having a baby.  I guess some men would argue and say it's not fair that they cannot ever experience what it's like to have a baby in their bellies.  It is an incredible experience feeling the baby kick and just knowing your child is growing inside of you.  But, wow, is it a long process and it sure does take it's toll on your body!  The positive to being on the Jenny Craig diet again is that right now with a newborn I'm exhausted and it's nice not to think about food.  I just pop a dinner in the microwave and voila!  It's even nicer knowing what I'm going to eat for the entire week and again, not having to think about it.  The first four weeks are planned by JC and then after that you go on your own and pick all your meals for the entire week.  I prefer to pick my own meals but according to statistics the pre-planned meals by JC pretty much ensure a weight loss if you stick strictly to the menu because a nutritionist has picked meals with specific calories to get you to exactly what you need each day (For me, it's staying at about 1200 calories).  I just hope my body is able to do this a second time because I'm very skeptical; I need to start thinking more positively.

The Every Other Day Diet itself is a great diet, though it doesn't mangle any speed limits!

try to do as much cardio as you can... if you can do an hour great.. if not then just do half an hour and gradually build your way up. try to burn at least 400 calories by working out. you'll burn the rest by just normal everyday activities. do this 4 to 5 times a week and im sure you'll see results soon. good luck.
