12/15/13- Paula's Eating/Exercise Journal: Sunday

It may seem like a weird holiday gift, but if you have a close relative or friend with high blood pressure issues, you may want to invest in a blood pressure monitor for them.  The November 2010 issue of Oxygen Magazine rated 4 different kinds.

The two worst rated were the watches and the finger monitors.  Neither are rated as ‘accurate’, nor were they recommended by the American Heart Association (AMA).

The two best rated were the sit-down machines at pharmacies and at gym facilities.  The cost is free and they’re considered fairly accurate if used as directed.  The best to buy is the arm cuff machines.  The AHA recommends an automatic, cuff style biceps monitor.  It needs to fit on your upper arm.  They run around %50.

The person receiving the monitor will know that your gift has their best-health in mind!
