I really feel that my weight loss is being affected by not getting enough sleep. I go to bed at a decent hour but waking up several times for a baby has to be contributing to my battle. According to ABC.com, "Researchers from the University of Chicago and the University of Wisconsin-Madison have found that not getting enough sleep may sabotage weight loss efforts because of an association between less sleep and an decrease in fat loss." Studies are suggesting that not enough sleep or disrupted sleep may cause a decrease in a person's metabolic rate. As if it isn't bad enough, lack of sleep affects your hormone levels causing one hormone to tell your brain you can never be satisfied the following day and another hormone increasing your appetite. Next time you have a sleepless night take notice of your hunger level the following day. Observe whether you never feel satiated and if you are constantly hungry. Hopefully once our son soon sleeps through the night this will help my metabolism a bit more. LOL, I need all the help I can get!
