I know quite a few people that are going to become Mom's or get married soon.  I don't know if you remember the whole fiasco back in the summer about how I blogged about the frustration of a registry?  My blog ended up coming across as ungrateful and shallow because I felt like no one had followed the baby registry and we had gotten a bunch of stuff I thought we didn't need.   But, on the flip side, recently hearing so many others complain about not getting things on their registry made me realize, I may have been acting selfishly, but I wasn't alone.  What I have learned, looking back on the experience, is that it wasn't necessarily me wanting tons of $200 items purchased by the boat load off my registry; it was what those items represented.  I related not having still a long list of baby items to not being ready for the baby.  I kept thinking, I can't have that baby yet; I haven't gotten my stroller, diaper bag, towels, wash cloths etc.  But, let's be real, (ladies who have had babies already you may agree with me!) you will NEVER be ready!  The fear of the unknown is very scary! What I realize now is HELLO you can go and buy those things later if you really need them; and probably half the crap on your registry you won't need anyway.  Your baby may only be partial to certain things and you really don't know until you have him or her!

I truthfully am a people pleaser and don't like conflict or hurting people's feelings.  I wasn't intentionally trying to be hurtful but this online journal I had to realize is definitely NOT private.  It's easy to forget that many, many more people read your thoughts than you would think.  Blogging entails a whole bunch of etiquette rules that I had never thought to consider before.  Writing to a whole online sea of people about your friends and family may not always come across in a positive light.  I take for granted the power of words...haha this is why I now try to steer clear of stories about friends and family at all, unless I know FOR SURE that it's a kind story.
